2019 Jetta Preview

Ever since it debuted in 1980, the Volkswagen Jetta has been known as a reliable, safe, fuel-efficient sedan. With the release of the 2019 VW Jetta only a few months away, you’ll be happy to know it still incorporates all of those qualities in a stylish, feature-packed car that is a blast to drive.

The 2019 VW Jetta starts arriving at dealerships in May, so to get your engines revved for this upcoming new compact sedan, we thought it would be a good idea highlight some of the key features of the upcoming Jetta.

New Body Architecture

The 2019 Jetta is completely redesigned and based off of the VW Group’s MQB vehicle architecture, which has been a proven success in other VW models. Reports say the Jetta is an exciting, responsive, and agile vehicle.

“Other vehicles based on MQB include the VW Golf and Tiguan, and the Audi A3 and TT. That’s good company, and as a result of the move Volkswagen promises that the Jetta will [be] fun to drive.” – J.D. Power + Associates

Amazing Value

It’s hard to believe you can get a well-equipped 2019 VW Jetta starting from $20,995—that’s a small price for such an impressive car that gives you all sorts of features. As an example, the 2019 VW Jetta is the only car in its category to come standard with LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights. All Jettas even come standard with a backup camera for the 2019 model.

The starting price for the Jetta is going to be less than a similarly-equipped 2018 model, yet you’re getting a larger car with premium materials inside-and-out, with more of a focus on style and function than ever before.

More Space

The Jetta has a 1.3-inch longer wheelbase which gives the driver and passengers more legroom compared to last year’s model. The backseat area of the Jetta has always been recognized for its ample space and that continues for 2019. For a compact car, the new Jetta sure is roomy, which makes it an affordable option for a student, newlyweds, or even for the daily commuter who needs a fuel-efficient, comfortable car with space for a few colleagues.

“Consumer Reports has praised the outgoing Jetta for its roomy backseat, so the added space should only make a good thing better.” – Nick Kurczewski, Consumer Reports

Engine and Transmission

VW has replaced the Jetta’s six-speed transmission with a new eight-speed transmission automatic that is said to provide smoother and quicker transitions from gear-to-gear. Certain trims will also offer a manual transmission option.

The 2019 Jetta will be powered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre engine that produces 148 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. In classic Volkswagen fashion, it provides an excellent blend of performance and fuel economy. There’s enough power to accelerate quickly and it can pass another vehicle on the highway without any issues.

These are just a few key highlights of the 2019 VW Jetta, and there will be more details being released soon, so check back often for updates on the new Jetta and other VW news.
