Home Charging

Home Sweet Home

There’s no place like home, especially when it comes to charging your EV. The time it takes to fully charge your vehicle at home can differ depending on your setup, so it’s good to know the options.

Level 1 Home Charging

Level 1 charging is simply done via the cable provided with your vehicle and a regular 120v outlet - no different than charging your phone, really. This will add around 5km of range for every hour it’s charging, reaching a full charge after about 83 hours*. That’s the slow option - for faster and more efficient home charging, you can upgrade to a Level 2 charger.

Level 2 Home Charging

Many Canadians purchase a Level 2 240v home charging station for their garage. It requires a 240v outlet, similar to one used for a washer or dryer, and VW dealerships can connect you with local electricians for quick and easy home installation. The Level 2 charger can charge your VW from 0%-100% in as little as 6 hours and 15 minutes, which is up to 58 km of range per hour*, so you and your vehicle can wake up ready to go in the morning.

Purchasing Level 2 Chargers

The Electrify Canada home charging station can be purchased through your Volkswagen dealer. Depending on which province you call home, you may be eligible for a rebate. For those in apartments or condos, many modern buildings have Level 2 chargers installed so it’s worth inquiring about the situation in yours.
